| How much does your business Internet really cost? |
|
Often, we meet businesses suffering from severe shocks in their Internet bill. These are businesses who depend on broadband to operate their business, yet the cost of this essential service is a major constraint. A new customer of ours was on a regular ADSL service with average download speeds and poor upload speeds. The upload speed was most important to them as they regularly send large files around the country and overseas. However, because of the ill-perceived 'low cost', they persevered with it. As their business grew, so did their connectivity needs. The impact to operations came from the increasing time it took to do business because of the slow speeds. The financial impact came from the regularly huge Internet bills as well as business inefficiency. Their “base plan” was reasonable enough at $150 per month. What wasn't were the monthly bills for excess data (usage above their data cap), which were on average $1,400 per month, bringing their total average Internet bill to $1,550 per month and more. This massive cost came with little or no benefit. They then came to NATCOM for a solution. Our OneSERVICE™ Internet plans for both Fibre Optic and WiMAX (wireless) include Unlimited data use, public IP addresses (for hosting services and applications), 24 hour/7 day Service Level Agreements (it’s fully managed) and a managed firewall for security, to name a few. OneSERVICE™ was able to halve their cost and importantly, increase their upload speed more than 10 times. With unlimited data use and superior performance, the business is able to grow freely without concern for increasing connectivity costs. If they ever need more bandwidth, it’s a simple speed increase as OneSERVICE™ isn’t restricted by the physical limitations of copper wire. This year has seen us busy combining fibre-optic networks throughout the country, from Whangarei to Queenstown. We’re now able to deliver fibre Internet services to all major cities in New Zealand! |
